We will evaluate
each website on:
Content, Design,
Navigation, and Overall Appeal.
Points may be gained
or lost depending on how well the website has met the criteria for each of these
areas. A possible of 100
total points may be earned. Judges have the discretion of awarding points based on the
impression your site makes upon them.
Please note it is now mandatory to
display the Lexi Award you won on your site by linking it to http://www.animationattic.com. Winners who don't
display the award on the site's pages will be removed from the winners list.
Content
(Possible Points: 40)
Content is an important part of
your website. If your content isn't appealing to your visitors, they won't
return to your site.
- Always give your
visitors a way to contact you and if you have a form always give an alternative way to
contact you if the form doesn't work
- Site must be in English or have an
English translation.
- You should check to be certain
that your spelling and grammar are correct
- If you collect information from
your visitors, have a privacy policy and be in compliance with COPPA
(Children's Online Privacy Act)
- If your site is a personal one we
don't want to see all about "me" have good quality content that contributes to
the internet community. Application will ask you for a password when you come to that put
the word "Mikel".
- A central theme to your site and
not numerous categories that don't follow the theme
Top
Design (Possible Points: 20)
Your design is what your
visitors see when entering the site and is what their first impression is based
on.
- Background and font colors should
compliment each other and be easy to read
- Text and images should compliment
each other and be related to your theme
- Site should load reasonably fast
- All of your graphics should
load and no have an x where the graphics should be.
- Fonts that are hard
to read and on busy backgrounds are hard to read and will disqualify you
site. Be sure the font is easily to read. It may look cool but it doesn't
allow visitors to read your site easily and is annoying.

- Your site should have a top button
for long pages.
- No cute little mouse trails
Top
Navigation (Possible Points: 30)
Your navigation is something that makes visitors frustrated if they can't find what
they are looking for easily. Make it easy to navigate or they may leave your
site. It should be easy to find your way around
and not a puzzle to solve.
- Site should be easy to navigate
with menus on each page
- Visitors should not have to
use their computer's BACK button
- No more than 4 broken external
links and no broken internal links
Overall
Appeal (Possible Points: 10)
Overall appeal is
how your site is judged by your visitors. Make it appealing, uniformed in fonts with
backgrounds that are not so busy it is hard to read.
The judges
have the discretion of awarding points based on the impression your site makes upon them !

Bonus
Points (Possible Points: 3)
You can earn bonus points by
showing us that you read our criteria. On our application form after
the question, "What is the password?" insert the word we have given you in the
criteria. If you haven't read all the criteria go back and do it now. If we
don't find this on your application you will be disqualified for not reading
criteria !
